Setting Owner Name Mapping

DBChangeManager provides options to map the owner roles present in the databases provided for comparison. Its important to provide appropriate owner mapping, as schema objects will be compared based on the owners associated with them.

Automatically DBChangeManager does a mapping based on owner names. You could also provide your own mapping or override the default mapping. Choose the Owner Mapping sub-tab and provide the mapping as described below.

Fetching Owners:

Before you provide the owner mapping, you need to fetch the owners present in both the databases which are compared. Click on the 'Fetch Owners' link. This will fetch all the owners present in both the compared databases in the mapping area below.

Mapping Owners:

Once you 'Fetch the Owners' list from the compared databases, you could see the list of owners present in these databases listed below in the mapping area. DBChangeManager provides a default mapping between the owners that exist between these two databases under Mapped Owners. If you wish to unmap any of the mappings click on the 'Unmap' link present adjacent to the mapping.

All the owners which are not mapped will be listed in the drop-down listbox Owners in Resource 1 and Owners in Resource 2. You can create a mapping as follows:

You cannot define 2 mappings for the same owner in any of Resource 1 or Resource 2. Hence once a mapping is defined for a owner, it will be removed from corresponding owners drop down list box.
